We know that personalized email content boosts reader engagement, right?
And by “personalized” I don’t mean simply using someone’s name within an email (though that’s a nice touch). I mean personalized, like:
What are their interests?
What are they looking for?
What is their business or stage of life?
Have they already purchased from you before?
Truly custom content like that can create a lasting connection with your readers.
Now, my favorite email platform is Kit because it’s so easy to use. It makes creating custom content a breeze using subscriber data. You can really create a special experience for your readers — versus sending one BIG OL’ BROADCAST to everyone.

By using conditional content (also called liquid tagging), we can send ONE email to everyone — though only those with appropriate tags see certain messages. It’s like a secret message, and your audience is Nicholas Cage!
Then everyone without the secret tag gets the general content as a “catch-all.”
So how do you do it?
Hang onto your hats because I’m going to show you right now.
Because keeping your email subscribers happy is what it’s all about, here are two examples of how to use conditional content in emails based on a subscriber’s preferences or activity.
Take special note of how the messaging allows us to really personalize our message for each audience without having to do more work (like create more than one email!).
