Oh hey there, I′m glad you're here!
And if you're on the hunt for some top-notch email marketing strategy and conversion copywriting tips - you've come to the right place!
You don’t know what people want to hear from you (learn more about fixing that here)
You’re not sure who makes up your audience (try this strategy to help with that)
Or you’re not quite sure what to say in your weekly newsletter to keep your readers all happily subscribed (lucky for you, I’m addressing this one today!)
A major reason why you have an email list — contrary to popular belief where some think it’s all about sharing whatever whim comes to mind that you want to share with lots of strangers — is so you can share a consistent message with your subscribers.
Hopefully you’ve defined what subscribers want (i.e. to do, need help with or are looking to improve) and you’ve shared how you can help them get there.
Your regular, live emails are meant to reinforce that idea. Not every email can be a “spinoff” in some other direction — because if you keep spinning, no one will know what to expect from you, and that’s exhausting to keep up with as a reader.
Determine what your list needs MOST and keep it clear. When you write emails through this lens, you can confidently send this content to everyone on your list.
Along those same lines, this is a simple strategy to make sure there is a little something-something for everybody on your list.
If you send a newsletter regularly, and you’re aware you have readers on your list with slightly different needs, incorporate links or teaching points that will serve each of these needs.
A client of mine sends an email every week called “5 things.” To make sure his weekly emails are helpful for everyone on his list — no matter if they’re starting to budget or want to invest in real estate — he makes sure one of each of these “5 things” addresses the needs of each segment of his audience.
You don’t have to call out a resource like “HEY THIS IS FOR BEGINNERS;” simply make sure there is a variety of links and resources so everyone on your list can engage with you no matter where they’re at in their journey.
Easy peasy.
I have a trick for you. (This is certainly more advanced, but I have to tell you it exists so you can try it out!)
There’s a tool that allows you to show content to some readers while hiding it from others ALL IN ONE EMAIL. Depending on which platform you use, it has different names, but the point is — it’s going to change the game for your weekly newsletter or ongoing nurture sequences.
I call it “conditional content” or “liquid tagging.” It determines who sees content in their inbox based on each subscriber’s data (usually a tag).
So while the email looks like this in the editor:
This is what someone with a “Industry: Blogging” tag will see — versus someone who does not have that tag:
That’s right. No more everybody-gets-this-email-the-same business.
EMAIL MAGIC DOES EXIST.

FYI : I sometimes talk about and link to tools, sites, books, and resources that I LOVE. Sometimes those companies give me a little gift for sharing if you choose to purchase something through my affiliate link. I promise to be straightforward with you and to only share things I personally use and would vouch for 100%.
