I get asked ALL the time about what email service platform I recommend. The answer is usually one of these two: ConvertKit or ActiveCampaign.
ActiveCampaign is a solid platform worth considering — however, I prefer the ease, speed and usability of ConvertKit. It tips the scale for me, 100%.
ConvertKit is a subscriber-centric platform, which means a lot of things for us as email service platform users — both in how we use the tool and how we better connect with our subscribers as a result of its features.
I recommend ConvertKit for a lot of reasons, but the few that are most related to you or your readers — because of ConvertKit’s subscriber-centric setup — are these three:
One important factor, especially as you’re considering different platforms, is cost, right?
Well, ConvertKit only bills you for each subscriber ONCE (which should be normal, right? But did you know that MailChimp will charge you for one subscriber multiple times, depending on how many lists they’re on? ), regardless of how many of your lists they’re a part of.
Your dollars go further at ConvertKit because you’re paying for fewer subscribers than if you’re using MailChimp. With the paid plan, you get access to automations — the full breadth of ConvertKit power that you’re probably looking for.
Even if you’re not ready to start paying for an email service provider yet, you can start attracting and emailing subscribers with the ConvertKit free plan.
With ConvertKit, tags and segments are how you organize subscribers by their activity (clicks, forms, purchases, etc).
By using link triggers (set up as a Rule in ConvertKit), you can seamlessly add a tag to a subscriber profile when someone clicks in an email, — on a link to a sales or product page, or a redirect to a freebie that will trigger your related sales funnel — when they opt-in for a form, or if they purchase something from you. Your subscribers have lots of interests and will click and download all sorts of things based on links you’ve provided in your emails. By using tags, you can understand each subscriber better and tailor content to suit their needs.

So much is said about what TO send subscribers, but I’ll argue that we don’t talk enough about what to NOT send subscribers.
Using my mute tag strategy, you’re able to exclude subscribers from live broadcasts (newsletters) and sequences inside of ConvertKit.
In a ConvertKit broadcast, excluding a subscriber looks like this.
In an automated sequence, you can simply filter out anyone who won’t need an email — say, if it’s promoting a product that they’ve already purchased!
